In February, my sister-in-law, Tammy Jacobson-Landon, passed away at the age of 43 from a rare and aggressive type of cancer. Our family was heartbroken; however, within days of her passing, her parents, my in-laws Bruce and Marcia Landon, established the Tammy Jacobson-Landon “I Can Hear You Now Fund” to keep Tammy’s memory alive.
Tammy dedicated her professional life as a grant writer for The Clarke Schools for Hearing and Speech. She was passionate about their mission to provide children who are deaf or hard of hearing with the listening, learning and spoken language skills they need to succeed. The “I Can Hear You Now Fund” established in her name will help children of families who would not otherwise have the means to attend the schools.
An amazing woman, Tammy was well known for her quick wit and incredible sense of humor. That’s why, to help support the fund, my wife Tracey and I sponsored the 1st Annual Tammy Jacobson-Landon “I Can Hear You Now” Comedy Fundraiser at the Springfield Country Club in September. With 100% of the ticket sales going directly to the fund, we are thrilled that we raised $25,000 for this purpose that is so close to our hearts.
Thank you to everyone who supported this wonderful event with their talents, time, donations and attendance. We can think to no better tribute to Tammy than a night filled with laughter in support of a cause she cared so deeply about.
